The FDA and HHS formalizes plans to phase out synthetic colors

On April 22nd, the FDA announced in a press release its intention to phase out petroleum-based synthetic dyes in food, beyond Red 3. While industry actors seem to be divided about the rollout, consumers applause the move, clearly indicating that now is the time to focus on reformulation.

Lycopene and Beta-carotene color solutions are not only stable, but also offer naturally derived options, likely to be well received by consumers and open products to new markets.
