The Lycored skincare story begins in 1995 with a single source of natural inspiration: the tomato.

Yet, it was the outside of our hero fruit that truly clarified our mission. As we watched the sun gently coax the tomatoes in our fields to ripen under their protective skins, we realized that given the right tools, tomato-derived skin supplements for smoothness and suppleness were possible.

Years of trial and error led to our own breed of tomatoes designed for skincare.

After identifying the key carotenoids and nutrients for Lumenato, we painstakingly created innovative detection methods that helped reveal, extract, and standardize beauty-supporting phytoene and phytofluene. We even teamed up with National Geographic photographer Craig Burrows to the natural glow of these invisible carotenoids in our special golden tomato.

Section 2/9: Research

Teamwork takes off.

Since then, we moved to pre-clinical (complex cell culture), bio-availability, and clinical (human subject) trials and after many refinements, we found the carotenoids in our golden tomatoes work even better to support skin appearance and beauty when synergistically combined with other naturally occurring nutrients in our skin wellness extract.

We perfect the extraction process

Once we were able to develop a CO2-protected, solvent-free extraction process for Lumenato™ to keep its natural nutrients as close as possible to the way they appear in nature, while maximizing their inherent potency and amplifying the potential for holistic synergy with other naturally occurring nutrients, we were off to the races.

Recognizing the natural power that emanates from the meeting of the minds and the meeting of the symbiotic nutrients as well as the method for inhibiting collagen loss, our Lumenato formulation is submitted for IP protection.

Studies confirm Lumenato’s power to boost

2020

A major milestone for Lumenato was a study that showed how it works to decrease the effects of sun exposure. Our “Lumenato’s protects normal human dermal fibroblasts from neutrophil induced collagen-3 damage in co-cultures 2020” study design deliberately included physiological parameters to gain new insights into the cellular mechanism.

Further research finds powerful skin-supporting impacts

We continue to deepen our insights with the launch of our double-blind, placebo controlled clinical study that evaluated the efficacy of Lumenato to improve beauty parameters on 60 healthy female subjects.
We marked the launch by unveiling a completely refreshed skincare tool kit with new before-and-after photos, clinical assessment, instrumental evaluation, and results on inflammation, wrinkles and texture you can literally see.

Hydration
When Lumenato participants with compromised skin barrier were observed as part of our double blind, placebo-controlled study, 70% experienced a significant improvement in their transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Nourishment
Evaluation using a laboratory assay showed that carotenoid levels increased steadily and significantly.

Structural support
Carotenoid levels in our bodies can measurably increase within just 24 hours after supplementation. But while the full spectrum of benefits of carotenoid nourishment take time to cultivate, some effects were very visible when we dived into the cellular level, like collagen support. In our recent published pre-clinical study we found that Lumenato supports the collagen network and reduces collagen degradation.

Section 5/9: Skin impact

More than meets the eye.

When we look closely, we see that carotenoids in Lumenato help balance cellular damage at the molecular level to calm the response of pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, the level of these nutrients naturally depletes over time, which is why it becomes increasingly more important to aid our skin in maintaining healthy carotenoid levels with supplements. That way, these potent antioxidants build up, like a “reservoir of goodness.”

Proving the power to help skin age beautifully.

As we age, our skin becomes more susceptible to the effects of environmental stress and it requires more upkeep to maintain its appearance. That’s where invisible carotenoids like phytoene and phytofluene in Lumenato can play a big role in conjunction in a comprehensive beauty regime, working hard from the inside out to keep skin looking and feeling healthy.

Water you waiting for
In a clinical study of 63 participants supplementing with Lumenato, 71% mentioned they noticed decreased skin dryness and an increased sensation of moisturization, indicating increased hydration properties.

Set the right tone
In a clinical study, 72% of the 63 participants supplementing with Lumenato experienced a more even complexion after just 4 weeks of use, and continued to see improvement throughout the 12 weeks study duration. Even two weeks after supplementation, participants results were sustained.

Glow for it
68% of participants reported a significant increase in radiance after 4 weeks. Participants continued to see improvement throughout the 12 weektreatment period.

Tighten up
In addition to improving tone and hydration, 75% of participants who supplemented with Lumenato reported that their overall skin texture and appearance significantly improved.

Reaching inside for a winning glow

Just like the glow we can see and feel when we smile, when we show ourselves love, it’s more visible than any other “make up” we can put on. Similarly, our research shows that beauty nutrition works to nourish our skin from the inside out and support an even healthier glow than a solely topical routine.

All together now

A big part of our movement to #rethinkbeautiful is challenging conventional standards of beauty, which is inspired by the fact that ingestible skincare and nutrition don’t see skin color, race, or age. They only see us at the cellular level, offering a liberating platform for inclusivity, positivity and equality.

We’ve long believed people of all ages and skin types have a right to wellness in all its forms.

Section 7/9: Inner beauty

Sustainability comes naturally

We’re committed to full vertical integration and extensive R&D to identify minimal waste solutions. For us, it’s not good enough to offer ingredients that work—they should offer consumers peace of mind too. With nearly 3/4 of consumers now willing to change their consumption habits to reduce environmental impact, the push for a more sustainable 'blue beauty' movement focused on the impact of chemicals on us and the earths ecosystems is critical.
